The voyage
Four days in the Arctic heart of whale season. Killer whales and humpbacks in the dramatic fjords north of Tromsø, under the Northern Lights.
In November the herring run into the fjords north of Tromsø and the orcas follow. We sail the Lagoon 40 catamaran north from Tromsø City Marina, tracking pods of killer whales and humpbacks around Skjervøy and Kvænangen fjord. Nights at anchor under the Northern Lights. Full board, private cabins, small group. One of the rarest wildlife encounters you can reach by sailboat.

The itinerary.

Tromsø · Saturday embark
Board at Tromsø City Marina from 14:00. Welcome drink and safety briefing. Dinner aboard, then north through Tromsøysundet into the open fjords. Stay on deck as Arctic darkness closes in — Northern Lights often appear tonight.

Skjervøy & Kvænangen fjord
Morning arrival in the Skjervøy area. Whale tracking begins. Close encounters with orca and humpbacks hunting herring. Photography tips. Optional orca snorkelling on request. Three-course dinner, Northern Lights watch.

Full-day safari
Extended whale watching — multiple pods expected. Arctic fjord photography with snow-capped peaks. Three meals aboard. Northern Lights photography session on deck. Optional visit to a small fishing village by tender.
- 04
Tromsø · return
Final whale sighting opportunity on the return passage. Farewell breakfast, digital photo pack shared before disembarkation. Arrive Tromsø ~10:00, check-out by 11:00.
